All elected members of Wigan Council receive a Basic Allowance each year. This relates to the work they all do as local councillors, representing their constituents, travelling round the borough, attending council and local community meetings.
Those members with additional duties and responsibilities also receive a Special Responsibility Allowance for the extra work in relation to that further responsibility. Both types of allowances are subject to national insurance and income tax.
As your local representatives we believe that it is important that this information is shared with constituents and you can view the recently published data for the year ending April 2013 here.
